LENT FAST DAY 3rd MARCH 2023

By sharing a simple meal and giving what you save to CAFOD’s Lent Fast Day Collection at church, you'll be demonstrating your generosity, solidarity and care for families working hard to fight the climate crisis, such as the family of 14 year old Dristy and her mum Rupali in Bangladesh.

Lent2023

Bangladesh is one of the countries most at risk from the effects of the climate crisis. Approximately a quarter of its population lives in the southwest of the country, near the coast, trying to make a living from traditional means such as fishing or small-scale farming. The more frequent and extreme cyclones and floods have made it increasingly difficult for people to build back from disaster.
There are small pockets of hope where people are wrestling back control of their destinies. Thanks to a local organisation supported by CAFOD, Rupali and Dristy have learnt skills and techniques to protect their village from the floods and cyclones that used to devastate their homes and crops. Rupali says “Thanks to the training I’ve received, I’ve managed to bring my family to a position where we no longer suffer from not having enough to eat”

Your donations this Fast Day will mean more families like Rupali’s and Dristy’s will get the tools and training they need to fight the climate crisis.
You can use the Family Fast Day envelope available at church or donate online at cafod.org.uk/give. If you are able to Gift Aid your donation, it will boost it by 25 per cent.
Pope Francis notes in Laudato Si (58), ”For all our limitations, gestures of generosity, solidarity and care cannot but well up within us, since we were made for love”
