Prayer Ministry

We at St. Mary’s have always valued the power of prayer and, given the acceleration of physical, mental and emotional suffering within so many families due to this appalling pandemic, we wish to offer one to one prayer ministry over the telephone to anyone who may want to receive it. Please be assured all conversations and prayer requests will be totally and absolutely confidential.
If you wish to avail yourself of this ministry simply contact any one of us directly:
Fr Vijay Bhupathi   07836 614833
Deacon Chris Wells 07751 136957
Deacon Tony Ford   07918 912195

May the Lord bless and protect you.

Parish Prayer

A few minutes before Mass starts the congregation prays together so that we can approach Mass quietly and prayerfully.  A lovely prayer has been composed, shown below,  which we will use as our Parish Prayer.

Thanks to Fr Peter Dutton for composing the parish prayer.

A Prayer for peace in the world.

Almighty Father, you are the Lord of history.

Our lives are in your hands.

As war continues to rage, hear our prayer.

We call out to you:

Welcome those who have died.

Comfort the bereaved.

Be with refugees and those driven from their homes.

Heal the wounds of those injured in body and soul.

Be close to everyone working to help those in need.

Do not allow war cries and threats to triumph, but truth.

Send discernment and prudence, balanced with courage, to work for peace, even when everything appears hopeless.

Lord send your Holy Spirit over the earth;

The Spirit who conquers division, the Spirit who leads to freedom, the Spirit who overcomes war.

You are the Lord of time and eternity.

Give our world the peace which only you can give.

Holy Mary, Our Mother, Queen of peace, pray for us and the whole world.

A prayer for Ukraine

Loving God,
We pray for the people of Ukraine,
for all those suffering or afraid,
that you will be close to them and protect them.
We pray for world leaders,
for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.
We pray for the world
that in this moment of crisis,
we may reach out in solidarity
to our brothers and sisters in need.
May we walk in your ways
so that peace and justice
become a reality for the people of Ukraine
and for all the world.
Amen.

Prayer for the Holy Land

Spirit of the living God,
Come afresh on your holy land.

God of mercy and compassion,
of grace and reconciliation, pour your power upon all your children in the Middle East:
Jews, Muslims and Christians,
Palestinians and Israelis.
Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope, oppression to freedom, and occupation to liberation,
that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces, and peace and justice may be experienced by all.

We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
