We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to ask the big questions of life. What is my purpose? What happens when I die? Why is there suffering? Alpha is a chance to ask these big questions and explore the Christian faith in a fun, non-pressurised environment. Each session includes social catchup over a drink and/or food, a short film and a discussion where you can share what you think about the short film with a small group of people just like you. There are no daft questions or comments, it is a real chance to spend a short amount of time thinking about yourself and where Jesus sits in your life, and listening to other people’s opinion. NB No notes are taken and all comments made within the small groups remain confidential. St Mary’s ran its first Alpha programme in January 2019, over a number of weeks people enjoyed meeting up and looked forward to the next session. Feedback collated at the end, demonstrated it’s benefit and that people did feel they had not only become closer to Jesus, but that it had strengthened our parish community. If you are interested in joining a course please contact Mike Worden, Gemma McGrory or one of the clergy.
